FC Barcelona v Real Madrid Preview

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola

"as Aitor (Karanka) said, there is 109 years of history between us Eleven extraordinary players are going to come out, guided by a very competitive manager who wants to knock us out. The most important thing in their lives right now is this game".

"we'll have to attack, but with common sense. Just like the people do where we come from. Tomorrow we can show what we are as a team. We have to dominate like we did at the Bernabeu. We have to be prepared, because it will be terribly hard, from the footballing point of view and emotionally too. We have to move the ball quickly, make it fly. I know that the 100,000 fans at the ground will help us".

"when you make these complaints, it's because you believe them to be true. They may think we're not fair and I think the opposite. I know my players much better than their legal department. At this club we transmit certain values to our people. The Madrid manager was here for four years and he knows that".

"it's a great achievement to be four points off winning the league and in the Champions League semi finals for the third year running. I want to thank the players in advance for letting us all allow this semi final. I want the fans to come with that sensation. I want the world to see us playing well".

"there are two bits of news here. Firstly, that we play in the semi finals of the Champions League tomorrow and secondly that we have a guy )Abidal) who has had cancer and he's back with us. Medically, he's perfectly okay, he's lost weight and he's not ready for 90 minutes yet, but when the fans come along, they'll see him on the bench and give him a great reception, We are all very happy about it".

Real Madrid assistant manager Aitor Karanka

“Tomorrow’s match has been pushed to the background due to today’s UEFA resolution. UEFA promotes respect and fair play everywhere, but everyone saw what happened at the Bernabeu on Wednesday and no one has done anything about it. Football has a certain set of values and tomorrow’s match is less important. What matters today is that UEFA have allowed actions described in the rules and regulations to go unpunished, but this wasn’t the case for Real Madrid two months ago for something that cannot be found in rules and regulations.”

“Once again, we see different yardsticks are used here. A few months ago, Mourinho and some of our players were suspended for something that cannot be found in the rules and regulations. But something that can indeed be found in them, and that everyone saw happened (not just Real Madrid), went unpunished today. These are objective matters that can easily be verified.”

“There will be players on the pitch tomorrow who everyone saw did not uphold respect and fair play on Wednesday. They even made racist insults covering their mouths so that no one could read their lips. Two of our players did nothing of the sort and will not be at the stadium tomorrow.”

“We are Real Madrid. We wear a crest and represent an institution that has never failed to face up to challenges in its 109-year old history. The only thing that matters to us now is reaching the Wembley final. Our coach feels bad for not being able to be with the team tomorrow. It would be important for us to be able to dedicate a victory to him.”

Real Madrid player Iker Casillas

“The names of the two teams that will play the final haven’t been inscribed yet. You never know what may happen. We will play in Barcelona knowing a final is set to take place in a month and that any of the four teams still in the championship may be in it.”

Real Madrid player Sergio Ramos

“We are in a complicated spot in this tie, but we’ll have to go for it at Camp Nou. We’re hopeful. We will try to do a good job and look for a victory.”

Real Madrid player Gonzalo Higuain

“We have a great chance in the Champions League and we will fight to the death. What matters is that we stick together to reach the final we are all so excited about. We’re good enough to win the tie, so we will try our best. We must be proud and humble. The fact that Bara defeated us in Madrid means we can also defeat them in Barcelona.”

Real Madrid player Kaka

“We expect to play a great game. We have faith. Real Madrid can never give up a fight.”
